APPRAISAL and COMPETITION RULES
 
   














 

1. Three categories BEGINNERS,  INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED

Definition of BEGINNER. A member who joins the club in the beginners section must have recently taken up photography as a hobby and will spend no more than TWO years in this section. If the member wins the beginners section in their first year of membership they will advance to the INTERMEDIATE section.

A member who has won the intermediate category will progess to the ADVANCED section

Any person who joins the club may elect to participate in competitions in any category. Any member who has been a member of another club and has participated in a particular category in the other club will be expected to join a similar, or more advanced, category at Mid Calder Camera Club. Any member who wins any of the categories will move up to the next category for subsequent seasons. Members may only compete in both Print and Projected Image sections at the same level.

2. Up to THREE entries in each category ( Prints and Projected Image ) per Appraisal per member. Only the top nine scores from a possible 12 will count toward the overall year ending score.

3. Prints must be mounted and shall not be greater than 20 x 16 inches including mount. All prints must have the following information on the back of the print.
a)  Title is authors chosen title for that image
b)  Member's Name
c)  Class Entered (Beginner, Inermediate or Advanced)
d)  Appraisal Number (1,2,3 or 4)

4. Digital Images submitted in the projected images section must adhere to the following.
1024 x 683 pixel size in JPEG file format, and be identified as follows

Title Members Name ClassB App1

a)  Title is authors chosen title for that image
b)  Member's Name
c)  Class Entered (Beginner, Inermediate or Advanced)
d)  Appraisal Number (1,2,3 or 4)

5. Slides entered for the projected image section must have the same information written on the slide mount and be properly spotted to aid projection.

6. All entries must be submitted on the appropriate submission day. Usually this will be three weeks before the competition night.
