Ok everyone we had an interesting time last night - despite the horrible weather conditions, and we did manage to get a few interesting shots. Obviously the hope now is to go back next Wednesday - hopefully with better weather, and ensure we get quality shots.

I know that people want to make their own way there - but Sara-Jane has space available in her vehicle if anyone is stuck for a lift.

Can you let me know if additional capacity is available in any other vehicle in case we require capacity? Make an offer on this blog!

If you are going straight there - and I will be one of them - make sure you arrive at the actual centre itself for about 19:00 hrs.

Lessons learnt:

Bring a torch!
Have a brolly.
Take your time!
Seek advice from those around you!

Kindest Regards

I spoke to the Falkirk Wheel and they are happy for us to attend next Wednesday.

Important - try and remember your pass and that you are representing Mid Calder Camera Club!

Kindest Regards

Hi George,

Deb and I will be attending. Thanks for making the arrangements again. Can I also say that a sturdy tripod, and perhaps a release cable of some sort is also necessary.

I have a torch in my camera bag but it has been so long since I have used it I could not remember where it was. And finding it in the rain and in the dark was out of the question. So there I was having to feel for everything in low light. This time I'll know where it is - lol.

One thing I would like to change, for the next time we are out in the rain again (chances are). Does anybody in the club know where you can get a very large shower cap for a camera bag? The Lowpro bags come with them built in, but the Tamrac bags do not?

See you all there at the wheel!

Best - Willie

Hi Guys

Grant & I will be there on Wednesday - we will make our own way, and try to arrive about 6:45. Well done George for arranging, and re-aranging, the trip.
Willie - most good outdoor stores will sell waterproof covers for backpacks so you might get something to suit your bag in one of them.
Milletts (in the Almondvale Centre) is a good starting point; if you want to travel a bit further afield I can recommend Go Outdoors in Coatbridge. We got a lot of Grant's walking/ camping gear there. You might also want to look at a website: www.speedgraphic.co.uk. We bought some dry sacks for Grant's kit from them at about half the price of high street stores.
