Also if everyone can check their instruction manual for their camera, to find out which shutter speed is the sync speed for external electronic flash. I seems that the standard for many years of 1/60th sec is slowly getting faster. My Fuji is 1/125th sec, and my Nikon is 1/250th sec. So it seems that all cameras will have a different sync flash shutter speed. Please note that this is not for your internal (built in) flash but an external flash. Also some cameras need you to make a setting change in your menu to switch from the built in internal flash to an external one. These are mostly bridge cameras or fixed lens cameras.

Also while you are there (in your manual) you can easily see how to change from Automatic to Manual, and how to change these settings as George requested above.

After you have set the optimum flash sync speed, we will tell you what f-stop to set the camera to for the studio lighting - it will probably be around f8. There will be 2 studio setups at either end of the hall. And they may be set up for a slightly different f-stop, But in changing between one studio setup to the next, it will be only the f-stop that may have to be changed on your camera.

Also while I have you here, any new members that do not have an club ID card, this may be an ideal opportunity to get a decent "Mug Shot" for your ID. After we have done the portrait studio session, we can spend a few minutes and get the Id shots done. I'll get an email out on this topic separately.
