Flat Screens ok for PS ?

I have decided to revamp my pc workspace in my loft to try and give me work space to work in. One of my options is to replace my normal monitor with a flat screen type. A 21" can be had for about £120. My question is I have heard that the colour redition of the flat screen monitors are not as good as the traditional CRT type. Does anyone use a TFT flat screen monitor ? and do they find it ok for image reproduction ?

I have a 15in flat scren which I use on my old wibdows PC which if you wonted to borrow for a couple of days over the holidayto see if it works okay - I use the PC for uploading Mail to my Radio PC !! give me a bell 202-190

Gordon I have two flat screen 17" and a 19" Flatscreen and have found no problems with any of them.

Colour profiling is always an issue in recording colours correctly irrespective of the type of monitor utilised - I suggest you borrow the clubs spyder software to correctly configure anything you utilise?

Grant & I both use flat screen monitors -1 x 15" and 1 x 17" and have no problems. Neither has been calibrated (yet!) but I'll get round to it some day. Now, if some bright spark can invent a calibration technique that compensates for colour blindness.....!

I use a 17 inch Samsung flatscreen and I believe that Samsung units come highly recommended.

Just noticed this while visiting to make another post.  I have in the past had some disappointing results after sending prints off to be done, and have heard of using 'spyder' to configure monitors etc.  Can someone explain what it is or how it works, and if I can borrow it.
