Festive Night Out – 5 January 2011

It’s been the custom in the Club to have a social night at the start of the year. It started out as a Christmas night out, but with so many of us having other commitments at this time, we decided some years ago to have our Christmas night out in January! In past years we have been to local pubs and restaurants for a meal and perhaps a couple of drinks.

However, with the Club the size it is now, it’s getting more difficult to book somewhere – not many places locally can cope with a party of 30 or so! Also, for the first time we have to consider our Junior members.

So, assuming that we want to do something similar again, my suggestions for this years bash are:

a)    meet in the hall and order in a HUGE take away from one of the Local
       Chinese or Indian places, or
b)    meet in the hall and order in a HUGE finger buffet, or
c)    see if the carvery at Brucefield Farm will allow us to make a reservation –         they don't usually, but for a big party, on a Wednesday night in January they
might make an exception. I think this would be by far the easiest option to
       organise and probably the cheapest.

Options (a) & (b) would be on a BYOB basis

Before I set about organising something, can you please let me know:

1      Should we continue to hold a night out?

2      Will you be attending?

3      Which of the three choices above would you prefer?

Catering company idea:

"Band of Gold" (working out of Linlithgow Golf Club) catered an AGM that we attended recently and the food was very good. The organisers, who don't have much money for this sort of thing, said their prices were reasonable. The person in charge is Kenny Craig, Tel: 07541 310 475, and email kennycraig510@hotmail.com
