The club has again been asked to supply images to Gardening Scotland. The same criteria will apply as in previous years. Please post below what days you can attend. The show opens on Friday 3rd June until Sunday 5th June. It is also possible to attend on Thursday 2nd June ( no members of public present ). As in previous years complimentary tickets will be available to members. Priority WILL be given to members attending the show to provide images to GS and will also be limited initially to TWO per member. More tickets may become available once I know whos coming etc. It will also be possible to re-cycle members passes on days they are not being used ( for partners etc ). We will also be looking for a DAY co-ordinator to be the point of contact for everyone.

I can attend either Sat or Sunday and am willing to be point of contact ( POC ) for which ever day I attend. If the weather is nice I will probably go on both days but for a shorter time on my non POC day

Hi All,

Deb and I (and Mum) were thinking of going on the Friday and I do not mind P.O.C.'n it for the day.

Perhaps this year we can also give the Thursday (indoor/no public) another try and get some good indoor flower shots. If any new members are thinking of going on Thursday a tripod is a good idea and setting your camera for tungsten light also helps.

Best - Willie

No trees were destroyed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Free entrance tickets, free passes, free parking tickets, free lunch tickets, press passes, and a donation to the club - Gardening Scotland is a great deal for the club and a lot of fun for members.

Much will depend on holiday plans and will leave options open at this time. Picking up on Willie's point - in the past I have found the lighting difficult in the main hall and some guidance on exposure settings from the experts would assist those who may be going for the first time. Also, there is a cut off time on the Thursday afternoon for photographing the displays prior to the judging - if we can find out it is a good idea to take shots as late as possible of the completed displays or getting in early on the Friday before the doors are open as trying to do it when the crowds are around is not easy.

I'm on holiday so can do most of the days.  I agree with Ian though, the lighting is quite odd in the halls and it would be good to have some guidance on getting the best images if that's possible.  Would really like to do the Thursday as it is nice when it's quiet!!  Margaret

It's a great day out. 2 years ago I bought my first DSLR to go there and got a great shot of Princess Anne with the old guy from the gardening programme bowing to her. Not to be missed. I will be taking the Friday off if possible and doing it again.

I should be able to attend on Saturday and/or Sunday -- not least because my brother-in-law is running an exhibition stall for the first time!
