Hi Everyone,

Ian G. have had a word with   Head Gardener and Manager for the National Trust property at Malleny House Gardens in Balerno. The borders should be at their best around mid June and it will be OK for Mid Calder Camera Club members to come along on Wed 15 June - Ian suggest between 7 and 7.30. There is a Car Park - follow the signs or members can park beside Currie Rugby Club clubhouse and walk up the drive and the gardens are on the right. Entrance to the gardens is free to National Trust members -  others it is £3.50 and Concessions £2.50. There is a box for money or Philip may be around and you can give him our dues. Philip will unlock the gate and the last time access was available to the greenhouse.

If everyone could let me know if they will be attending, we will sort out car sharing closer to the 15th June but as always it is weather dependent.

While Fred asked me to progress the enquiry for another visit I am away on holiday and unable to attend. As others have said this is a peaceful location for flower shots plus macro work can be undertaken in the glasshouse. All we need is a nice still night - bright sky and no rain

 Smiley

I'll be there, and maybe Grant as well now that his night school class is finished! I'm happy to take the car, two spare seats.

Hi Guys

I'll come along (as its a 2 minute walk down the road!) and I am quite happy to assist people with setting up and taking images of plants. As many of you know this a passion of mine and I kind of specialise in this area. I'll bring along my "plant photography"  gear but probably not take any images but assist as I can. I will bring my Macro lens and as long as you have a Nikon camera, you are very welcome to try out the lens

Cheers

Smiley Stuart, What a great Idea - lets hope the weather is dry and warm.

Thanks

Will and I would like to go.

We've been there before and would recommend it.  Check out http://www.nts.org.uk/Property/Malleny-Garden/Map/# for some photos, a map, and a weather report.

** Also, a review from Edinburgh Spotlight: http://www.edinburghspotlight.com/2011/04/review-malleny-garden-balerno/

In addition, see http://www.scottish-places.info/features/featurefirst8143.html for some history on the place.
