Hi all,

Sorry for not being to the club for a while, having a lot of problems with my back.  Looks like I need an opp will find out for sure in Feb.  I have come into a little bit of money, even after buying prams nursery furniture etc I have some left over.  I am looking into buying a sigma lens for a Nikon camera 175-500 lens.  Where is the best place to buy lens from.

Hope every one is keeping well

Hi Scott,

Hope you are better soon.

I have recently purchased the Sigma "Bigma" 50 - 500 mm with a Nikon mount from a company through eBay (paypal) called Digital-Rev. They are based in Hong Kong so I had to import the lens, and pay the duty and vat on it (at the door). Digital-Rev refunded both of these amounts within 24 hours. I ended up with the duty paid  - receipt, which made the lens's warranty valid here in the UK (as stated on the Sigma website).

With shipping the lens came to 495, as compared to 745 which was the price I was looking to pay here. The shipping was UPS, fully tracked - 3 working days. I also purchased a MAC 7 year warranty with the lens for an extra 10.00. Digital-Rev emailed the status of the lens at each stage, and answered my emails right away. The experience could not have been better. They also sell the 170 - 500 mm Sigma.

Purchasing through Papal was guaranteed, as was the credit card. The company's reputation on the Internet was also very high. Since then I have purchased 2 other lenses through them - with the same results. So I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Some of the other club members have purchased equipment through 7 DayShop  http://7dayshop.com/ based in Guernsey.

Does anybody have any other ideas?

Hi folks I am at the hospital tomorrow so should know soon what is happening with my back.  Anyway 3 weeks ago I bought a sigma/nikon 170-500 lens from seven day shop.  Got email saying out of stock and they would not take any money out my account.  The next day got an email saying lens in stock and getting sent out.  They took the money out my account, no problem.  3 days later got email saying lens out of stock and now not being sent and could not give me rought time to when lens in.  After a couple of weeks I got feed up with this, searching the web I found sites saying this is quite a regular thing with them on expensive orders and not to hold your breath getting your order.  I cancelled my order and give them their due after 4 days got my money back.  Have now ordered it through warehouse express who say they have it in stock and will be delivered.  Hope to take a family member out this weekend with me so they can carry me equipment for me so I can use my new lens.  Scott
